The Dech House

Flagship Preservation Project

The Dech House

A Colonial limestone structure built between 1816 and 1825. Transferred from Pennsylvania to East Allen Township in 2017, the Dech House is the Society's primary restoration project — a landmark being returned to its community.

Active Project

Dairy Barn

Standing alongside the Dech House, the historic dairy barn represents the agricultural heritage of East Allen Township. During the Farm Colony era it produced over one million gallons of milk annually.

Horner's Cemetery

Northampton County's Oldest — c.1745

Horner's Cemetery

The oldest burial ground in Northampton County. Within its grounds lie three generals, seven esquires, four doctors, and at least 24 veterans from four American wars — a who's who of the region's earliest settlers.

The Friendship Tree
04

A Living Legacy — 1785 to 1953

The Friendship Tree

Two European Horse Chestnut saplings gifted by George Washington to General Robert Brown. One thrived here for 168 years, growing 80 feet tall before falling in 1953. Its chestnuts were distributed to all 48 states and world leaders.
